.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1233 PM CST Sun Feb 22 2026

Tonight through Saturday...High pressure at the surface continues to
slowly build into the Lower Mississippi River Valley from the west,
with northwest flow aloft. The pressure gradient across the region
will remain fairly tight overnight into Monday. Though, not as
strong as those observed today, winds will still be breezy across
the region into Monday as they remain sustained between 10-15 mph,
gusting to around 20 mph at times. Because of this, along with
afternoon minimum relative humidity values at critical levels and
somewhat dry fuels, I`ll again hoist a Red Flag Warning for far
southern portions of the area Monday. Winds will finally begin to
ease up late in the day Monday as the pressure gradient relaxes.
Cold conditions will exist though as lows tonight into Monday fall
into the 20s & lower 30s, and highs during the afternoon under clear
skies only range from the lower 40s to lower 50s.

Quiet weather, with at to below seasonable conditions, will persist
across the forecast area into mid-week as high pressure builds into
and eventually through the region. Lows Monday night will be the
coldest of the forecast period as they fall into the 20s areawide,
with highs Tuesday afternoon warming into the mid 50s and mid 60s.
Conditions begin to warm to above normal levels Wednesday afternoon
under breezy southerly winds as the pressure gradient yet again
tightens across the region. Another cold front is currently progged
to push into and through the forecast area during the
Thursday/Thursday night period. This will result in increasing rain
chances overnight Wednesday and through the course of the day
Thursday, with rain chances coming to an end Thursday night. Another
brief cool down and return to quieter conditions will exist Friday
into Saturday. /19/
